Bursaries

Gateshead Music Trust bursary programme is dedicated to supporting families from socio-economically diverse backgrounds in their pursuit of music making. This initiative aims to reduce financial barriers by providing funding towards music lessons, instrument costs, and participation in ensemble activities. By fostering an inclusive environment, the programme ensures that children and young people from various backgrounds can access high-quality music education, nurturing their talents and encouraging a lifelong passion for music. The Trust believes that every young person, regardless of their financial circumstances, should have the opportunity to explore their musical interests and develop their skills in a supportive community.

The bursary fund is limited and will be allocated with careful consideration towards families who are most in need. Bursaries typically range from £250 to £500. We encourage families to apply and assure them that their circumstances will be thoughtfully assessed during the selection process.
