Gateshead Music Hub, formally partnered with South Tyneside Local Authority, became a consortium partner of the North East Music Hub in 2024, marking a significant advancement in its commitment to music education. This collaboration aims to enhance the delivery of the National Plan for Music Education, ensuring that young people across the region have access to high-quality music education and opportunities. By working together with Durham, Newcastle, Northumberland, North & South Tyneside and Sunderland local authorities and other key stakeholders, Gateshead Music Hub is dedicated to fostering youth voice and inclusivity in all its programmes, thereby enriching the musical landscape of the North East and empowering the next generation of musicians.
Quite simply, we want to make music learning great for children and young people across Gateshead. Working with our partner organisations; The Glasshouse ICM Gem Arts, Side by Side Arts and Gateshead College and most importantly the schools in our areas, we are a music hub, that through joined up thinking and delivery want all children and young people in our area to have the chance to make, play, perform and listen to as much music as possible, whilst also having a class time.
